Role Summary/Purpose

The Process Applications (PA) team is a multidisciplinary group of professionals focusing on growing sales in this particular segment of the market, typically in the heart of our customer’s operations, using our products & technologies to deliver value by developing innovative solutions that are more cost effective, or simply enablers of new revenue streams, with the aim of making our customers more profitable and resilient,

The Process Application Engineering Leader (PAL) will be part of the European Process Engineering Team, and will support the business development, sale and execution of process application and process separation solutions. These solutions will apply the companies’ core technologies in applications generating value products out of waste streams (e.g. recovering salts, acids) or improving the value generation out of product streams (e.g. whey desalination, juice concentration).  

Based on a profound technical understanding of the relevant technologies the PAL will form and lead the European Process Application Engineering Team (PAT), to be composed out of the current process engineering experts in that field and engineering resources to be hired. As such, she/ he will be a coworking part of a strong team, that will develop/ design full process application treatment schemes from pre-treatment to polishing around the core technologies, such as ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis and electrodialysis.

The PAT will closely work with the regional sales and commercial teams to be aligned on the business strategy and the markets to be addressed and develop attractive proposals for our customers. On the technical side the team will closely collaborate with the global product management and technology teams, as well as regional and global process engineering experts.

Where needed for the solution generation, the team will collaborate with the regional piloting team, to fill knowledge gaps and to verify/ demonstrate new, robust solutions. The work of the PAT will be rounded up on the execution side, by closely collaborating with project management, project engineering, commissioning and service functions, ensuring that lessons learned from the integration and operation of projects can benefit future opportunities.

The role includes flexibility in the work schedule and it is results oriented.

 

Essential Responsibilities

We are seeking a high-energy, creative and dedicated senior process engineer with proven track record in leading a process engineering team and the ability to navigate the team in a complex regional and global organization.

The position will be internal and external customer facing and require a combination of managing skills, in-depth process expertise on core technologies as part of the associated application schemes as well as excellent communication skills with various stakeholders and customers.


Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Form and build and lead the process application engineering team: This includes determining and management of the required resources and skillsets, including workload and knowledge management, integration/ being focal point of contact in the regional organization, talent development etc. to maintaining the required continuity and expertise of the team.
  • Work with regional leadership, sales and commercial teams to identify and be aligned on market trends and the business strategy.
  • Work with global product management and technology teams around the companies’ UF, NF, RO and ED portfolio.
  • Exchange with global process or regional subject matter experts to maximize technical quality during solution development.
  • Do risk & warranty reviews of the proposed design.
  • Work with the commercial, project management and commissioning teams by defining clear responsibilities.
  • Assure tools and skills are in place, enabling smart designs and engineering approaches, targeting standardization where possible.
  • Assist in strategic positioning on key projects, including building long-term relationships with customers from the sales cycle through to long-term operation. 
  • Fuel the generation of creative solutions including experimental programs and pilot studies around new applications and solutions.
  • Develop/maintain relationships with key technical experts on the customers’ or consultant side and lead awareness of the competition/ competitive solutions. 
  • Adhere to company’s culture and policies, and be an advocate for Ethics and Compliance.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s or higher degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other technical discipline with emphasis in process design and/or controls of water and/or wastewater treatment unit operations.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant process design experience
  • Process design experience in the process application/ separation sector
  • Process design experience around the core technologies (UF and desalination technologies, such as NF, RO and electrodialysis).
  • Experience in leading the process design of complex treatment schemes.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups and customers, clients, and other employees of organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Team player, with proven experience in working in a matrix.
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally up to 30 %;
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and most relevant design software tools;
  • Fluency in English (oral and written)

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Fluency in any other European language (oral and written) would be beneficial, especially, Spanish, French, Russian or German.
  • Experience with other process design and simulation software tools.
