The purpose of this role will be to perform in-house and on-site equipment service support for a variety of pilot-scale water treatment technologies.
 
In-house service will include assistance during the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of piloting equipment prior to shipment to Customer sites as well as shipments returning from Customer sites.
 
On-site service will take place on Customer sites across North America.  Services provided include commissioning, decommissioning, routine maintenance, emergency troubleshooting and daily operation of pilot scale water treatment systems.
 
The person in this role will require mechanical aptitude including the ability to work with, and learn, various types of pumps, PVC piping and various types of instrumentation equipment.  The person in this role will require electrical aptitude including the ability to work with, and learn, motors of 120-600 V, PLCs and control panels. 
 
This position will work closely with the Pilot Project Managers and Pilot Equipment Supervisor.  The person will be responsible for the quality of the service performed on the pilot equipment.  This position will report to the Global Pilot Engineering Leader.
 
This person will be required to travel within Canada and to the United States for trips ranging from 5 to 21 days.
 
Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, test and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment including various pumps, valves, chemical dosing equipment, and online probes (pH, ORP, conductivity, and turbidity), SCADA, and PLCs.
  • Collection and analysis of water samples.
  • Communicate daily with project manager and report issues, concerns, or abnormalities.   
  • Train the Customer’s operators on the operation of the pilot equipment.  
  • Conduct daily activities in a safe manner which meet or exceed the Customer and SUEZ’s safety policies.
  • Maintain a neat, organized and professional job site and work area. 

 
Education

  • B.Sc. (Engineering or other) or college diploma, with water treatment experience preferred

 
Experience/Requirements

  • practical experience with mechanical and/or electrical equipment, experience with water treatment equipment preferred
  • proficient in standard computer software programs (MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerpoint, MSOutlook)
  • fluency in English (written and verbal) required, French consider an asset
  • ability to travel within Canada and the USA required, ability to travel to other countries considered an asset
  • ability to perform light manual tasks on-site including lifting and using hand and power tools
  • commit to a 12-16 month contract
