Lead Process Engineer – Integrated Solutions (Water & Wastewater) M/F –Saint Maurice 94 (France)

 

Role Summary/Purpose

  • The Process Engineer (PE) will join the EU Process Engineering team, supporting the business development, sale and execution of new municipal/ industrial water and wastewater treatment solutions.
  • The PE will take a lead function in the area of water and wastewater treatment, based on in-depth expertise around UF/MBR/Desal membrane technologies and will lead, consult and review process relevant initiatives, developments and projects.  Moreover, she/ he will develop and lead integrated, complex. projects, where multiple technologies are to be merged in an overall treatment scheme.
  • The PE will work with the global product management, technology and process expert teams as well as the regional sales and projects teams to identify future trends and requirements throughout the region ensuring that business opportunities are aligned to technical knowledge and use this to influence global product and knowledge development.
  • The PE will work with the commercial engineers, project management, engineering functions, commissioning and service activities to ensure technical awareness and address knowledge shortcomings.

 

Essential Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a high-energy, self-motivated, creative and dedicated senior process engineer with proven track record to help understand future trends for business development and to lead process designs during development, proposal and execution stage of projects. The position will be customer facing and requires a combination of in-depth product and process design expertise in drinking, process water and wastewater treatment, in depth understanding of integrated, complex process schemes, all along with commercial expertise in technical sales, and customer relationships.


Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the regional water process engineering expertise around membrane-based applications and solutions, including knowledge management & training, driving and leading regional initiatives and developments to grow the business, challenging the boundaries of applications, doing risk & warranty reviews etc.
  • Work with global product management and technology around SUEZ’s pressurized and submerged UF/MBR products and applications.
  • Work with regional leadership to identify market trends and the business strategy required.
  • Work with global process to help review and position key deals which involve membranes.
  • Lead the overall process engineering side on integrated, complex, multiple technology deals including coordination of the experts in various disciplines, being focal point of contact internally and externally, running risk reviews, interacting with the global process experts etc.
  • Develop technically accurate and compliant bid strategies to win new projects by supporting proposal preparation.  Work as a team with Sales and Commercial Engineering through specification review, competitor analysis, proposal review, and preparation/review of PFD, P&ID, and system layout drawings.
  • Assist Sales in strategic positioning on key projects, including building long-term relationships with customers from the sales cycle through to long-term operation. 
  • Develop and execute client-specific process designs for new projects, including pre- and post-treatment requirements, membrane design and OPEX calculations and life cycle cost analysis.
  • Develop and lead process experimental programs and pilot studies around new applications and solutions.
  • Develop/maintain relationships with key consultants, partners and key regulators. 
  • Support project execution and engineering team through review of control documents, engineering drawings, and O&M manuals for projects. 
  • Support plant commissioning and performance testing and troubleshoot issues raised in operating plants to support the Service team.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s or higher degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineer or other technical discipline with emphasis in process design and/or controls of water and/ or wastewater treatment unit operations.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant process design experience.
  • Experience in the field of UF/MBR membrane technology and further water and/or wastewater treatment technologies, including process design and optimization of conventional solids removal systems (e.g. clarifiers, sand filtration etc.), desalination technologies (e.g. RO, EDR, IX etc.), MBR and any other technologies applicable to WTPs and/or WWTPs (e.g. thermal technologies).
  • Experience in leading complex water treatment schemes, e.g. industrial process water production projects.
  • Ability to design integrated processes that combining construction, constructability, layout and hydraulic requirements into the most cost effective solution.
  • Good knowledge in water chemistry.
  • Ability to work independently to drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups and customers, clients, and other employees of organization.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally up to 25%.
  • Be familiar with the drinking water regulations and project execution in UK.
  • Computer proficiency with Google Apps, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and most relevant design software tools.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written).
  • EU work permit.

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in any other European language (oral and written) would be beneficial, especially, French, German, Spanish or Turkish.
  • Experience with other process design and simulation software tools.
